We're delighted to announce that the conference will be held in person in Oxford, UK from 17-19 March 2024.

There is a cost to attend the conference, details about this can be found on the fees page.

Registration is now closed.

TRAVEL UPDATE: The M25 motorway will be closed between junctions 10 and 11 from 9pm Friday 15th to 6am Monday 18th March 2024. We would suggest you allow extra time for your journey to Oxford. If you would usually be using the M25 to travel, it is likely that diversions will cause delays.

It's that time of year again, the CSAE Conference will be back in Oxford in March 2024 with parallel sessions on a series of development economics topics alongside panels across the three day event. Take a look at our programme.

This conference brings together colleagues from across the development economics community to discuss Africa. We look forward to seeing you there!

CSAE Economic Development in Africa Workshop 2023

This year the CSAE Economic Development in Africa Workshop was hosted by Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda, from 27-30 November 2023. The Workshop was for CSAE Conference 2024 funded speakers as well as students and staff at Makerere University. The programme included training sessions run by researchers from J-PAL Africa, University of Oxford, University of Notre Dame, and Tufts University, as well as presentations from funded speakers.
