Summary - The MSCHE 2022 Annual Conference

Registration is now open for the in-person Middle States Commission on Higher Education 2022 Annual Conference: Empowering Higher Education from December 7-9, 2022, in Philadelphia, PA.

We are excited to gather together again for the first time in two years and to welcome you at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown.

The MSCHE 2022 Annual Conference is your opportunity to engage with MSCHE colleagues and others from across the higher education community to learn from each other about meeting the array of constant and emerging challenges and opportunities, individually and collectively.

As President, I am excited to open the conference with a welcome and additional remarks reflecting trends in the MSCHE membership, the expansive work of the Commission as it relates to our strategic priorities and impacts upon the higher education community in general. I am thrilled to be joined by the Commission’s Chair Dr. Davie Gilmour, President (Ret.) Emeritus of Pennsylvania College of Technology, and Vice-Chair Dr. Katherine Conway-Turner, President of SUNY Buffalo State, for this opening plenary.

Additionally, we have an exciting program planned that includes two other plenary speakers:
- Dr. Freeman Hrabowski, III, President Emeritus of University of Maryland, Baltimore County, will reflect upon his legacy of 30 years as President and gives his insights into what demographic, technological, and economic changes in our nation’s schools, colleges, and universities mean for our future work as we seek to increase student diversity, inclusion, and success.
- Dr. Daniel Greenstein, Chancellor of Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) which serves more than 90,000 students, will present on the lessons learned from the recent integration of schools within the system, and the critical role partnerships and collaborations play with communities in and around the integrating universities.
Other features of this year’s conference include:
- Concurrent sessions that will offer opportunities for you to further engage in dialogue and discussion around innovative ideas, practices, and outcomes.
- Pre-Conference Workshops that span a variety of important topics.
- A reveal of the final proposed revisions to the Standards for Accreditation and Requirements of Affiliation on which our presidents will vote in 2023.
- An Exhibit Hall offering a hub of activity where we can gather and experience the many great services offered by our Sponsors and Exhibitors.
New this year is an opportunity to interact with student scholars through their poster presentations. We encourage you to share this opportunity and have students at MSCHE institutions consider submitting a proposal through the Call for Poster Sessions with this link. This expands the Commission’s student-centered commitment and provides opportunities for students to showcase their work through a faculty-supported poster session.
