The New York State Highway Safety Symposium unites safety professionals and stakeholders, including law enforcement, traffic engineers, policymakers, public health officials, prosecutors, and community organizations. The event is organized by the NYS Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, the NYS Association of Traffic Safety Boards, the NYS STOP-DWI Association, Inc., and the New York State Police.

**New** COPS IN COURT Training - Monday, October 19, 2026

TRAINING FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT

This is a one-day training dedicated to law enforcement taught by the Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutors. It includes discussion and instruction on all aspects of trial preparation and courtroom testimony in an impaired driving case.

The curriculum covers (1) rules, routines, and roles; (2) report writing; (3) direct examination; (4) cross examination; and (5) taking the stand.

*Cops in Court Training is included in both a "Full Symposium Registration " and a "Monday 10/19 Registration - Cops in Court"

ARIDE - The Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement Training Available

ARIDE TRAINING FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT

This ARIDE training will take place along with the Highway Safety Symposium which will drive ARIDE law enforcement participants an opportunity to receive training and be attend morning programming of the symposium. 

The Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) course trains law enforcement officers to observe, identify and articulate the signs of impairment related to drugs, alcohol, or combination of both. This course was designed to provide participants with an enhanced level of awareness in drug impairment as it relates to traffic safety and improves upon their Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) proficiency. NOTE: ARIDE participants at the Highway Safety Symposium do not need to register separately or pay a separate fee for the symposium.

Training times will be:

  • October 19th: 8 am-4 pm
  • October 20th: 12:30 pm-4:30 pm
  • October 21st: 12:30 pm-4:30 pm
