MEET THE 2027 ANNUAL MEETING CO-CHAIRS
Barbara Fransway
Sean Vargas
Barbara Fransway began her career in genetics as an undergraduate, when she participated in a summer volunteer opportunity in a campus core facility. Since then, she has witnessed the fields of genetics and genomics evolve through rapid technological advances and exciting new discoveries. She is committed to supporting and enhancing the impact of academic core facilities while recognizing and celebrating the talented professionals who make these facilities successful.
Sean Vargas has worked across industry R&D, CAP/CLIA sequencing laboratories, and academic core facilities. He is passionate about the role core facilities play at the intersection of technology development and research support. A self-described "technique junkie" who often skips straight to the methods section of a paper, Sean is always eager to learn new approaches and explore how advances in sequencing and multiomics can address complex scientific challenges.
