From AI-Curious to AI-Capable: Building the Skills and Judgment to Use Generative AI Well
Thurs., Nov. 19, 12 p.m. ET

What does it mean to use generative AI effectively and responsibly? And how can we develop the skills needed to navigate an increasingly AI-driven world? Designed for beginners and experienced users alike, this interactive session led by Shavell Jones ’21, an educational opportunity program counselor at Binghamton University, will explore the essential competencies that can help us move from simply experimenting with AI to using it with greater confidence, intention, and critical awareness. We'll examine skills such as effective prompting, understanding AI's capabilities and limitations, evaluating AI-generated information, and establishing ethical boundaries. Drawing on examples from education, nonprofit work, and other professional settings, we'll also consider emerging developments, including AI agents and AI governance, and what they may mean for the future of work. No technical background background or experience is required.
