October Meeting: From Reactive Security to Continuous Assurance

Thursday, October 15, 2026
5:00 PM-7:30 PM PT

Cloud security often follows a familiar cycle: deploy infrastructure, monitor for problems, investigate findings, and fix what needs attention. That work remains essential. But as cloud environments grow and change faster, security teams need more ways to prevent unsafe changes and keep protections in place over time.

This session explores Continuous Assurance—an approach that turns security expectations into policies that can be checked continuously and enforced throughout the lifecycle of cloud resources.

Continuous Assurance builds on detection and response. It helps teams establish secure configurations from the start, block known unsafe changes where appropriate, and catch drift as environments evolve. When prevention isn’t practical, automated remediation can help close the gap.

We’ll examine how cloud security posture management (CSPM), preventive guardrails, policy-as-code, Zero Trust, and continuous assessment fit together in practice. We’ll also discuss the organizational decisions that shape whether these controls work: who owns policies, how teams handle exceptions, and when automated enforcement makes sense.

AI adds another dimension to this discussion. We’ll explore how it can accelerate attacks while helping defenders interpret security signals and respond more quickly, including where human judgment remains necessary.

Attendees will leave with a practical framework for assessing their cloud security programs, identifying controls they can introduce earlier, and deciding where Continuous Assurance can strengthen their existing defenses.
