Learning Objectives

After this activity, participants will be able to:     

• Recall insights and strategies for addressing students' physical, mental, emotional, and social health needs in a school setting.

• Recognize how to address common physical complaints among children and adolescents at school.

• Identify barriers encountered by school nurses when implementing interventions to improve student health.

• State how to apply appropriate measures for treating and managing minor injuries and illnesses in school-aged populations.

• Define the role of school nurses and other clinicians in conducting health screenings to detect health problems affecting learning early.

• Assess the intrinsic rewards associated with a career in school nursing.

• Evaluate recommendations for maintaining personal health and managing burnout in the school nursing profession.
