MAPS Time Management Strategies
Learn how to manage your time and work smarter, not harder.
MAPS virtual courses are highly participatory and interactive.
Our instructors engage the participants by using many of the features of Zoom: breakout rooms, chat window, polling, class discussions, and share screen. The MAPS online experience will be similar to MAPS in-person; your learning requires your involvement.

Pre-Work
Please plan to complete approximately 2 hours of pre-work before the course date.
Virtual MAPS courses include pre-work to provide foundational knowledge and ensure that all MAPS courses offer 6 hours of instructional content. While pre-work varies by course and instructor, activities may include reading articles or book chapters, listening to podcasts, watching videos, completing assessments, or submitting documents.
Pre-work materials and instructions will be emailed to registered participants at least one week prior to the course date.

Employees are waiting for a decision and direction, your email box is full, your office is cluttered, a customer is holding on line three… Every day you have to handle multiple priorities. Our time is our most precious resource. Learning how to work smarter not harder is key! Managing your time results in maximizing quality, increasing productivity, improving performance, delivering excellent customer service, making more sales, meeting deadlines, achieving objectives and better mental health. This seminar uses group discussions, written inventories, role-playing, exercises, and more… to teach you how to change the way they manage your time and work smarter not harder.
Intended Audience
This course is designed for public service professionals who want to strengthen their communication, presentation, and time management skills.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- Assess and understand your time management skills strengths and areas for improvement
- Learn how to use a “Time Log” to identify how you use your time and discover the two types of Time Barriers
- Explore tools and techniques to manage the Four Biggest Time Wasters
- Reduce paper and electronic clutter and manage your email inbox more effectively
- Deal with interruption, both you interrupting yourself and other interrupting you
- Understand why you procrastinate, and discuss and learn various techniques to begin managing procrastination
- Learn several creativity techniques to start working smarter not harder
- Uncover how the Professional Plateau Theory may be part of your productivity challenge
- Explore the concept of Job Satisfaction and way to improve yours
- Get an “extra hour” out your week
- Explore your challenges with others and create a 90 Day plan

Instructor

Patrick Donadio, MBA, CSP™, MCC, is a nationally recognized communication and leadership expert and the author of Communicating with IMPACT©. Requirements for a Virtual Course
- A device that has a working microphone is required. A camera is strongly recommended. The online courses use features that enhance your experience with the use of your device’s camera and microphone for interaction and participation.
- Pre-work
Virtual MAPS courses include approximately 2 hours of pre-work. Pre-work materials and instructions will be emailed to participants at least one week prior to the course date.
Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration at least five (5) business days before the course date to receive a refund. The last day to cancel for this course is March 18, 2027.

Substitutions
Can't make it to the course? You can always send someone in your place. Substitutions can be made until the day of the course, March 25, 2027.
Follow these steps to make a substitution:

- Scroll down to "Substitutions"
- Follow link in email
- Enter the confirmation number from the registration email
- At the top of the page, click on the “Substitute Registrant” button
- Enter the name and email of the new registrant
- Click Next

CEU and CPE Policy
Attendance in this course can earn:
- 0.6 Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
- 7.2 Continuing Professional Education Units (CPEs)
Attendance is recorded at check-in at the start of the day, and full CEU or CPE credit is awarded based on an honor system, with the expectation that participants are present and actively engaged for the full MAPS course
Course Certificate
Your course certificate will be emailed to you following the course. It will reflect your Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Continuing Professional Education Units (CPEs) earned and your attendance of the course.
Waitlist
What happens if I am on a waitlist for a course? You will receive an email confirming you have been added to a waitlist. If a spot becomes available, you will be notified by email.
Photography
The Ohio State University may occasionally take pictures during educational events for use in program communication. If you do not want to be photographed during this course, please email the MAPS team at glenn-training@osu.edu.
MAPS Membership
A MAPS member receives a discounted rate of $250 for each course with the initial purchase of at least 12 credits. Each credit equals one course for one individual.
