The Group on Research, Education, and Training (GREAT) is excited to host the 2024 AAMC Biomedical Research Training Conference in Dallas from Oct. 7-9. Dear Colleagues,

We are excited to welcome you to the 2024 Annual Biomedical Research Training Conference hosted by GREAT. The conference planning committee has worked diligently to develop plenary sessions of broad interest to all three GREAT sections, concurrent sessions focused on issues specific to the individual PhD, MD-PhD, and Postdoctoral sections, and abundant opportunities for networking within and across all three sections. We hope the conference not only provides you with new knowledge, but also with new (or renewed!) connections to our research training communities.

This year's meeting focuses on four key themes, which are integrated throughout our plenary sessions. We'll start by discussing the key challenges in biomedical education, focusing on strategies to ensure a robust and sustainable workforce. We'll then explore the current landscape of diversity, equity, and inclusion in biomedical institutions, highlighting ongoing efforts to promote these values. Following that, we'll delve into the potential of AI to transform education and research in the biomedical field. Finally, we'll address the importance of mentorship, considering how to adapt approaches to support a diverse and evolving workforce while fostering connections and growth. Throughout the conference, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with these themes through posters, 5-minute talks, panel discussions, and workshops, providing a dynamic platform for sharing insights, learning from peers, and developing practical solutions to the key challenges and opportunities in our field.
