Summary - CREDO 2027 Mid-Career Conference

For 20 years, ministers have attended a CREDO conference type just once in their career: recently ordained, mid-career, or late-career. The Board of Pensions recognizes the depth and breadth of the questions ministers are asking in the midst of so many changes in the church and the world. These are questions we ask throughout the entire arc of our ministry, and the Board of Pensions wants you to flourish through your entire ministry. With this in mind, the Board of Pensions is now opening CREDO to ministers who have previously attended.

You are being invited to our first year of Arc of Ministry mid-career CREDO conferences. All mid-career invitees are enrolled in the Medical Plan and/or Defined Benefit Pension Plan, age 30–63, ordained in the PC(USA) more than five years ago, currently serving in a congregation or other PC(USA) validated ministry, and have not attended CREDO in the past ten years. Your cohort will include both those who have never previously attended and those who attended a recently ordained CREDO conference more than ten years ago.

If you’ve attended CREDO previously, while you would not be returning to the same cohort, you can expect to return again to an intentional space to ask questions of the heart and consider your wholeness of body, mind, soul, and strength. CREDO envisions ministers flourishing in life and leadership through wholeness of vocation, emotions, physical body, finances, and spirit so you may devote your best energies to the work of God’s kingdom and to witnessing to God’s transforming grace in Jesus Christ.

At CREDO, you’ll imagine and discern new possibilities for growth in key areas of your life: spirituality, vocation, physical and emotional health, and financial health. Led by a faculty team specializing in these areas of wholeness, the weeklong conferences include plenary presentations, workshops, one-to-one conversations with faculty, small group meetings, daily worship, and fellowship. 

By revisiting your wholeness in finances, spiritual life, physical health, emotional health, and vocation, you can reflect on your Rule of Life and adjust it for this next season of life and ministry. As always, led by a faculty team specializing in these areas of wholeness, the weeklong conferences include plenary presentations, workshops, one-to-one conversations with faculty, small group meetings, daily worship, and fellowship.

time for listening, prayer, discernment, and growth;
care by a community of faculty who will help you refresh your thinking about who you are and what you believe God may be calling you to become;
daily worship and fellowship with colleagues from across the country; and
revisiting your CREDO Rule of Life (or CREDO Plan), which can make a lasting difference in your life and vocation.

Note: CREDO is not intended to prepare you for retirement. Lifelong Learning has a number of online and in-person offerings for those actively discerning retirement. Due to limited space, we ask those who would attend within two years of retirement to pursue other Board of Pensions education offerings
