MAPS Battling Emotional Exhaustion to Thrive, Not Just Survive
Address the issue of burnout, its consequences, and tangible strategies that can be used to mitigate emotional exhaustion to promote vitality and professional fulfillment.
MAPS virtual courses are highly participatory and interactive.
Our instructors engage the participants by using many of the features of Zoom: breakout rooms, chat window, polling, class discussions, and share screen. The MAPS online experience will be similar to MAPS in-person; your learning requires your involvement.

Pre-Work
Please plan to complete approximately 2 hours of pre-work before the course date.
Virtual MAPS courses include pre-work to provide foundational knowledge and ensure that all MAPS courses offer 6 hours of instructional content. While pre-work varies by course and instructor, activities may include reading articles or book chapters, listening to podcasts, watching videos, completing assessments, or submitting documents. Pre-work materials and instructions will be emailed to registered participants at least one week prior to the course date.

Course Description
Many people experience emotional exhaustion and burnout, and having a plan to mitigate our own key drivers of burnout is more important than ever. Self-preservation is critical for leaders and individual contributors alike. This course is designed to highlight the depth of the issue of burnout, its consequences, and tangible strategies that can be used to mitigate emotional exhaustion and burnout and promote vitality – a state of professional fulfillment, motivation, and commitment to ongoing intellectual and personal growth, full professional engagement, enthusiasm and positive feelings of aliveness, energy, and excitement. Course participants will have the opportunity to develop a personalized plan for achieving a state of vitality.
Intended Audience
This course is appropriate for people working in any industry at any level who are interested in learning tangible strategies to create a plan to mitigate emotional exhaustion and achieve a state of personal and professional vitality.

- Create an action plan for battling emotional exhaustion including strategies shared in the course

Requirements for a Virtual Course
- A device that has a working microphone is required. A camera is strongly recommended. The online courses use features that enhance your experience with the use of your device’s camera and microphone for interaction and participation.
- Pre-work
Virtual MAPS courses include approximately 2 hours of pre-work. Pre-work materials and instructions will be emailed to participants at least one week prior to the course date.
Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration at least five (5) business days before the course date to receive a refund. The last day to cancel for this course is October 20, 2026.

Substitutions
Can't make it to the course? You can always send someone in your place. Substitutions can be made until the day of the course, October 27, 2026.

CEU and CPE Policy
Attendance in this course can earn:
- 0.6 Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
- 7.2 Continuing Professional Education Units (CPEs)
Attendance is recorded at check-in at the start of the day, and full CEU or CPE credit is awarded based on an honor system, with the expectation that participants are present and actively engaged for the full MAPS course
Course Certificate
Your course certificate will be emailed to you following the course. It will reflect your Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Continuing Professional Education Units (CPEs) earned and your attendance of the course.
Waitlist
What happens if I am on a waitlist for a course? You will receive an email confirming you have been added to a waitlist. If a spot becomes available, you will be notified by email.
Photography
The Ohio State University may occasionally take pictures during educational events for use in program communication. If you do not want to be photographed during this course, please email the MAPS team at glenn-training@osu.edu.
MAPS Membership
A MAPS member receives a discounted rate of $250 for each course with the initial purchase of at least 12 credits. Each credit equals one course for one individual.
