Course Description

Although dental implant osseointegration can be highly predictable, many complications and limitations challenge the provision of long lasting implant therapy. We have the ability to extend the success of implants for our patients.

This presentation will focus on three aspects of effective dental implant therapy. First, we will consider the importance of precision in planning. Precise rationales must reinforce precise planning for implant placement. Second, the execution of well-conceived plans can take many paths including guided, navigated, and rapid or immediate protocols. Here, we will illustrate the importance of patient-specific (precise) approaches to achieving the lasting results for all patients. Alternative treatment plans should be explored for our individual patients. Finally, the construction of implant-supported prosthesis requires remarkable precision. The role of digital technology in the reproducible delivery of outstanding prosthesis will be illustrated for single, multiple and full mouth rehabilitation scenarios. When our efforts to replace teeth with implants is considered in the context of the longer-term challenges that face our dental implant patients, we must move planning for “teeth in an hour” to providing “teeth for a lifetime”.

At the completion of this program, participants will be able to:

• Understand the role of implant biology, biomechanics, and prosthetic planning as it relates to longevity in successful implant therapy
•  Recognize the spectrum of opportunities available as site development for improving dental implant esthetics.
