Code of Conduct
MSACL is committed to creating a supportive and productive environment. Professional behavior is expected at all MSACL functions. Harassment in any form will not be tolerated.
Be kind to others. Come to learn, come to share, come to provide constructive and supportive feedback and dialogue.
Do not insult, disparage, or act disrespectfully towards attendees or staff.
Do not attempt to embarrass, humiliate, belittle or ask sarcastic questions of presenters, regardless of your perception of the quality of their work.
Harassment and sexist, racist, or exclusionary comments or jokes are not appropriate. Harassment includes sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, sexual attention or innuendo, deliberate intimidation, stalking, and photography or recording of an individual without consent. It also includes offensive comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race or religion.
All communication should be appropriate for a professional audience, including people of many different backgrounds. Sexual language and/or imagery is not appropriate.
Participants asked to stop engaging in unacceptable behavior are expected to comply immediately.
Attendees violating the following guidelines may be asked to leave the event at the discretion of the organizers without a refund of any fee(s) paid.
Reporting
You can and should report violations of this Code of Conduct to onsite event staff (whether MSACL or venue security). Some ways to make a report include contacting:
- MSACL registration desk or security staff onsite.
- MSACL via txt at 1-858-922-5813.
Event staff will help participants contact venue security or local law enforcement, or otherwise assist, as needed.
Consequences
MSACL may remove any individual from attendance or other participation in any MSACL-sponsored activity or event without warning or refund. MSACL meeting attendance badges are the property of MSACL and must be returned to MSACL upon request.
MSACL may also prohibit any individual from attending or participating in future MSACL events.
MSACL may involve law enforcement as appropriate based on the specific circumstances.
Liability
- Except as required by law, neither MSACL nor its affiliates shall be liable for any direct, indirect, special, incidental, or consequential costs, damages, or losses arising directly or indirectly from the event/activity or other aspect related thereto.
- MSACL may update its programming, speakers, and other pertinent details at any time.
- MSACL reserves the right to change, amend, add, or remove any Policies, Terms, or Conditions in its sole discretion and without prior notice. If one or more of the conditions outlined in these Terms and Conditions should become invalid, the remaining conditions will continue to be valid and apply. These Policies, Terms, and Conditions apply to all event participants (attendees, speakers, sponsors, exhibitors).
Liability Waiver
As a conference participant, you agree and acknowledge that you are undertaking such participation in MSACL and/or events produced and/or sponsored by MSACL and associated activities (collectively referred to herein as "MSACL Event(s)") of your own free will. You hereby assume all risks of personal injury and/or other loss or damage arising out of, or in any way associated with, your participation in this or any MSACL Event. You release to the fullest extent permitted by law, MSACL and any of its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, contractors, agents or other representatives, successors, assigns, and all others acting on their behalf (collectively referred to herein as the "Released Parties") from any and all responsibilities, claims, expenses, personal injury, wrongful death or liability for injuries or damages of any kind resulting from or in any way arising out of your participation in this or any MSACL Event. You also agree to hold the Released Parties harmless against any and all claims, demands, actions, causes of action, losses, damages, and expenses, including reasonable attorney's fees and costs incurred in defending such claims directly or indirectly resulting from, or in any way arising out of or related to your participation in MSACL Events. You acknowledge that your participation in this or any MSACL Event is expressly conditioned on your agreeing to the foregoing.
Publicity Release
You acknowledge that during MSACL Events, MSACL may photograph or video various aspects of the event, this includes all Scientific Presentations. You hereby grant full permission to MSACL to use any media from MSACL Events including my name and/or likeness for any MSACL business purpose.
