Parkinson Canada is convening the 2026 Parkinson's Access to Care Summit on December 3rd, 2026 in Toronto. Held in advance of the Canadian Movement Disorders Society (CMDS) Congress taking place December 4–5, this summit brings together movement disorders specialists, neurologists, allied health professionals, health systems researchers, implementation scientists, and health policy representatives to tackle one of the most persistent challenges facing people living with Parkinson's in Canada: access to care. 

Despite strong clinical expertise and a growing evidence base, access to Parkinson's care in Canada remains inconsistent, fragmented, and too often dependent on where someone lives. The tools to change this exist in the form of team-based care models, implementation frameworks, and health systems research, but they have yet to reach the people and places that need them most. This summit is designed to close that gap, by creating the conditions for two communities that rarely share the same room to learn from one another and chart a path forward together. 

For movement disorders specialists and neurologists, this is a rare opportunity to hear directly from health systems researchers and implementation scientists about how to move proven models of care through the system and into standard practice, and also how to play a more active role in that process. 

For health systems researchers and implementation scientists, Parkinson's care represents an area of significant and largely untapped opportunity. The gaps are well-documented, the clinical community is engaged, and there is growing momentum behind the push for a national solution. 

The summit will feature expert presentations, panel discussions, and structured collaborative sessions designed to bridge the clinical and health systems worlds and to turn shared expertise into new priorities.
