November Presentation

Groundwater Strategies for In Situ PFAS Mass Flux Control

This webinar examines strategies for managing PFAS mass flux in groundwater using in situ adsorption using colloidal activated carbon (CAC). The presentation will discuss suitability, design, delivery, monitoring, performance, and key uncertainties. In Situ Engineered Mineral Sorption (ISEMS™), an exciting new approach designed to enhance PFAS retention and potentially enable recovery, will also be introduced. Participants will gain a practical framework for comparing these technologies and identifying where pilot testing or full-scale application may be appropriate.

By attending this presentation, participants should be able to:

  • Identify the site conditions and testing needed to evaluate the suitability of colloidal activated carbon (CAC) treatment.
  • Describe key CAC design, delivery, monitoring, and performance considerations.
  • Assess uncertainties related to sorption longevity, breakthrough, groundwater chemistry, and lifecycle cost.
  • Describe the ISEMS™ concept and its potential advantages.
