About the Meeting

While the number of full-time women faculty has increased significantly in the last 13 years, there is still much work to be done to achieve gender equity in academic medicine. However, determining what steps to take to advance along your path to leadership can be extremely daunting. Join us for the Early Career Women Faculty Leadership Development Seminar to gain the strategies and resources you need to navigate these challenges while developing a strategic career plan to achieve your leadership goals.

What to Expect

Over three days, you’ll take part in engaging plenaries and panels, interactive small group breakouts, and will have ample opportunity to network with peers facing similar challenges. Specific topics that will be covered during the seminar include:

  • Academic promotion and advancement
  • Identifying and taking advantage of leadership opportunities
  • Negotiation
  • Personal statement and narrative writing
  • Communicating as a leader, and more

Who Should Apply?

This seminar is designed for women physicians and scientists with an appointment at an AAMC member school of medicine, with a minimum of two years of experience (February 2023) as an Assistant Professor. We recognize every faculty member’s career progresses at a different pace, so we say, generally, this seminar is designed for women faculty who have held an academic appointment at a school of medicine for eight years or less. 


Due to high demand, and limited capacity, we are unable to accept anyone outside of this target audience.
