Summary
The Decision Analysis in R for Technologies in Health (DARTH) workgroup, in collaboration with the Hospital for Sick Children, the University of Oslo and the University of Minnesota, is offering a hands-on three day workshop on cost-effectiveness and decision modeling using R from June 25 - 27, 2026 (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM CET).
DARTH instructors will cover the principles of cost-effectiveness analysis and decision analytic modeling and will guide participants in implementing decision trees, Markov models, and microsimulation models and their implementations in R. The workshop will also cover deterministic and probabilistic sensitivity analysis in R.
Workshop Schedule
June 25: Decision trees and Markov models
June 26: Microsimulation modeling
June 27: Sensitivity analysis
On workshop days, participants will spend approximately 5 hours in the live interactive sessions. We recommend investing an additional 2-4 hours a day to review the material.
Suggested schedule:
- Preparation modules with video lectures (1-2 hours)
- Live interactive sessions with code demonstrations and coding exercises (6 hours daily)
- Completion of homework assignments (1-2 hours)
Pre-Workshop Preparation
Participants will be expected to have some experience with decision modeling and/or basic concepts of economic evaluation. Self-paced modules introducing R concepts specifically for decision modeling will be provided as part of your workshop registration.
This set of pre-course modules may take 2-8 hours to complete, depending on your familiarity with R.
Please complete the "Intro to R for decision Modeling" modules on your own by June 25, 2026.
