Patient Day Course Overview

This educational activity is designed for patients living with pulmonary hypertension (PH), their families, caregivers, and support partners to enhance their understanding of pulmonary hypertension and empower them to actively participate in their care. Through presentations led by multidisciplinary experts and patient advocates, participants will gain practical knowledge about pulmonary hypertension, available treatment options, medication administration, oxygen therapy, research opportunities, lung transplantation, and strategies for maintaining quality of life. The program also emphasizes shared decision-making, patient perspectives, and meaningful engagement with the healthcare team to help participants navigate their PH journey with greater confidence and knowledge.

Patient Day Course Objectives

As a result of participation in this program, participants should be able to:

• Describe the fundamentals of pulmonary hypertension including the causes, pathophysiology, symptoms, and impact of the disease on the heart, lungs, and overall health. 
• Review current treatment options for pulmonary hypertension, including oral, inhaled, subcutaneous, and intravenous therapies, and understand how these treatments help manage disease progression and symptoms. 
• Identify practical self-management strategies to support optimal health, including medication adherence, oxygen therapy, activity recommendations, nutrition, fluid management, and symptom monitoring. 
• Recognize the importance of routine monitoring and follow-up care, including diagnostic testing, risk assessment, and communication with the healthcare team. 
• Discuss advanced therapies and emerging treatment options, including research opportunities, clinical trials, and lung transplantation when appropriate. 
• Understand the role of shared decision-making and learn how to actively participate in treatment planning and discussions with healthcare providers. 
• Explore strategies to improve quality of life, emotional well-being, caregiver support, and access to community and patient advocacy resources. 
• Gain confidence in navigating the PH journey by connecting with multidisciplinary experts, patient advocates, and fellow patients and caregivers.

Physician/APP Day Course Overview

This educational activity is designed for physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals involved in the care of patients with pulmonary hypertension to enhance their understanding of pulmonary hypertension, including its pathophysiology, at-risk populations, clinical presentation, diagnostic evaluation, and current treatment strategies. Special emphasis will be placed on multidisciplinary management, diverse patient populations, and emerging therapeutic and procedural approaches to care. Through a comprehensive review of evidence-based practices and evolving treatment options, participants will be better equipped to recognize pulmonary hypertension earlier, make informed clinical decisions, and optimize patient outcomes through timely diagnosis and appropriate management.

Physician/APP Day Course Objectives

As a result of participation in this program participants should be able to:

• Review the causes and effects of delayed referral for patients with for pulmonary hypertension (PH). 
• Explore the role of sotatercept, the newest “kid on the block” in the management of patients with pulmonary hypertension.
• Discuss when to intervene on patients with pulmonary hypertension and left heart disease.
• Understand multidisciplinary management considerations for pregnant patients with pulmonary hypertension (PH).
• Share what we have learned as a program after 1 year of performing balloon pulmonary angioplasty in the treatment of patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH).
• Describe risk stratification and management of patients with pulmonary hypertension and kidney and liver transplant candidates.
• Review diagnosis and management of patients with pulmonary hypertension in the setting of interstitial lung disease.
