MOCK EXAM FAQs
Q. Will I earn credit for taking the Mock exam?
A. No.
Q. How long is the mock exam?
A. You will have 5 mins to complete the mock exam.
Q. Are there course sample questions for the Mock Exam?
A. NO. There will not be any sample questions from course materials in the mock exam.
The mock exam questions will include:
- Question # 1 - Workspace Scan Question in Examplify – This question will prompt you to show your workspace using your web camera. This question will also appear on the final exam.
- Question # 2 - Mirror Scan Question in Examplify – This question will prompt you to use your mirror to show your workspace reflection to the web camera. This question will also appear on the final exam.
- Question # 3 – What do you call a fish with no eyes? – This question offers an opportunity for you to practice selecting your preferred answer. This question will NOT appear on the final exam.
Q. How many times can I take the Mock exam?
A. You can take the mock exam as many times as you want within the given time frame indicated above.
Q. When can I start the mock exam?
A. You can start the mock exam any time during the given timeframe indicated above. You must complete the mock exam in one sitting and must submit the mock exam before the deadline.
Q. How do I know if I successfully completed the mock exam?
A. You’ve completed the mock exam once you’re able to click the “submit” button. The mock exam doesn't have a pass/fail.
Q. If I successfully completed the Mock Exam do I need to retake it?
A. You're only required to take the mock exam one time. However, if you update or modify computer settings or if you plan on using a different computer on the day of the exam you must retake the mock exam. The purpose of the mock exam is to ensure that your device works and to familiarize yourself with the Examplify’s testing environment.
Q. Will I be asked to take a photo again?
A. Yes. You will be required to take your photo at the beginning of every exam. It will be compared to your baseline photo on the first Mock Exam.
Q. Should I use the same computer to take the mock exams and the final exam?
A. YES! You must use the same computer for the mock and final exam.
Q. Will there be new access information for the mock exams and the final exam?
A. NO. You will use the same username and password to log on to the testing application (Examplify).
The password for all mock exams is: MOCKEXAM1.
Final Exam: A new password will be provided for the final exam.

Q. Should I read the directions carefully before starting the mock exams and the NY Orals Exam?
A. YES! We have provided several instructional guides for you to review before taking the exam.
Q. Can I use an iPad to take the test?
A. No. Please see the instructional guides provided.
Q. Will I need a mirror for the mock exam and the final exam?
A. Yes and yes, you need a mirror, even if your webcam or laptop can show your workspace. Be sure to have a mirror that is at least 5x7 in size next to you before starting the mock exams and NYS Orals exam.
Q. Will I need a webcam and microphone for the mock exam?
A. Yes, you do need a working internal or external wired connection webcam and microphone.
Q. Will I need a calculator?
A. No, you will not need a calculator for the mock exams or the final exam.
Q. Should I have other windows open in my browser and/or files open during the exams?
A. No.
Final NYS Orals Exam FAQ’s
Q. How many questions will be on the exam?
A. The final exam has a total of 102 questions, including the 2 workspace scan questions noted above in the mock exam FAQs and 100 multiple-choice exam questions.
Q. May I take the exam whenever I wish?
A. No, as the exams are coordinated with each course. The exam will be given on the same date and begin and end at the same time for all registered participants in each course.
Q. When will I know if I passed?
A. The exam will undergo a complete statistical analysis, we anticipate releasing the results within 5-7 business days.
Q. What happens if I don’t pass the exam?
A. If you don’t pass the exam, you will be registered for the next scheduled exam date and will not need to complete the entire course again.
- There will be a $100 administrative fee for each additional exam taken.
