Dwelling in the Word: An Amen Retreat
JULY 17–19, 2026
AUGUSTINE INSTITUTE | FLORISSANT, MO
Join us at the Augustine Institute campus this summer for Dwelling in the Word: An Amen Retreat. Together, we will reflect on the practice of reading Sacred Scripture in prayer, otherwise known as lectio divina.
This retreat, led by our Graduate School of Theology professors, will cover the four steps of lectio divina: read, meditate, pray, and contemplate.
To help you prepare for this retreat, you may wish to purchase Praying Scripture for a Change: An Introduction to Lectio Divina by Tim Gray in advance. You may order your copy by clicking here. Allowing these pages to guide you ahead of time will gently prepare your heart for the retreat experience

The Church "forcefully and specially exhorts all the Christian faithful . . . to learn 'the surpassing knowledge of Jesus Christ' (Phil 3:8) by frequent reading of the divine Scriptures... Let them remember, however, that prayer should accompany the reading of Sacred Scripture, so that a dialogue take place between God and man. For 'we speak to him when we pray; we listen to him when we read the divine oracles.'"
