Ohio's Intensive Pedagogical Training Institute (IPTI) delivers initial coursework that is required for an Ohio Alternative Resident Educator License. IPTI provides instruction in the principles and practices of teaching and covers topics related to student development and learning, formative and summative assessment processes, curriculum development, and classroom management. IPTI is asynchronous online content, available 24/7, whereby participants complete the course at his or her own pace. IPTI consists of 3 course modules, 15 assignments, and a field experience requirement. IPTI participants demonstrate mastery of content with a minimum score of 80% for each assignment. While assignments are graded, a participant has no live interaction with the course instructor. All coursework is completed online. Successful completion of IPTI assists an individual with the initial requirement for an Ohio Alternative Resident Educator License.
