Guiding Good Choices® (GGC) is an evidence-based program for parents/caregivers of youth ages 9-14. The primary goal is to create strong family bonds that motivate youth to follow family guidelines to increase the chance of better health and educational outcomes.
WHO SHOULD USE GGC?
Those who are working with parents of 9 - 14 year olds including; schools, social workers, home visitors, family service workers, public health agencies, preventionists, and prevention coalitions.
GGC WORKSHOP SERIES
The workshop series for parents/caregivers is delivered over five weeks (six if delivered virtually). Each session is two hours and covers:
- Why parents may need new skills as their children enter adolescence
- The Social Development Strategy, and how it relates to parenting
- Setting and using family guidelines for behavior
- Managing conflict and expressing anger constructively
- Teaching children refusal skills
- Involving children in the family
