Course Information
This interactive 3-day module is designed with particular emphasis on surgical procedures relevant to dental implant therapy. The participants should already have a comprehensive understanding of dental implant fundamentals including healing, patient assessment and treatment planning. Some surgical experience will be an advantage.
This module will provide you with a detailed understanding of the principles of guided implant surgery and soft tissue management. You will be shown step-by-step on how to safely and predictably place the routine dental implant. All required surgical equipment, instruments and materials will be discussed in detail, including how to prepare you, your patient and your team for sterile implant surgery. Potential surgical complications will also be discussed along with post-surgery follow up protocol, and most importantly how to reduce surgical complications.
Anatomical consideration and basic surgical principles will be covered. An actual guided dental implant surgery will be reviewed in detail to emphasise the most important aspects of successful dental implant surgical treatment. Guided bone regeneration as well as sinus lift principles will be covered. Peri-implant soft tissue management and options will be explored in detail.
During the hands-on day, you will be carrying out suturing to ensure you have an excellent foundation for oral surgery. Then implant surgical placement using a surgical guide on a model. And finally free-hand implant surgery using a porcine jaw.
