Reconstruction of complex alveolar bone defects remains a major clinical challenge in implant dentistry, especially in the esthetic zone. Digitized custom titanium mesh has attracted increasing attention because it can maintain a stable regenerative space, improve the accuracy of bone augmentation, and reduce additional surgical trauma. 

This webinar presents a digital workflow for titanium mesh–assisted bone augmentation. The workflow begins with wax-up design, integrating DSD smile design and 3D facial scanning to determine the prosthetic position and morphology. Based on the ideal restoration, implant placement is planned according to the labial-lingual position, vertical depth, and mesial-distal position. The digital design of the titanium mesh focuses on the horizontal and vertical extent of augmentation, as well as the design methods and principles. Strategies for transferring the digital design to clinical practice are reviewed, including freehand placement, vacuum-formed placing template, tooth-supported 3D-printed placing template, and AR/VR-assisted placement. The webinar also addresses second-stage bone contouring. The final restoration coordinates reconstructed bone, the soft-tissue profile, and the prosthesis to achieve esthetic and functional rehabilitation. By beginning with the end in mind, this workflow may improve the predictability of esthetic implant restoration.
