AFRICA OXFORD INITIATIVE

The Africa Oxford Initiative (AfOx) is a cross-university platform established to bring the University of Oxford’s long-standing, multi-disciplinary engagement with Africa under one platform. The overarching aim of AfOx is to establish equitable research partnerships between researchers based in African institutions and researchers at the University of Oxford. To enable effective partnerships that are genuinely co-developed between researchers from the University of Oxford and African institutions, AfOx offers two main research partnership schemes- the AfOx Travel Grant and the AfOx Visiting Fellowship Program.

AfOx collaborations seek new breakthroughs in the fields of medical sciences, big data engineering, astrophysics, conserving environments and ecosystems, archaeology, preservation of ancient languages amongst other research areas.
