Course Description:
This comprehensive, one-day symposium is designed for physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, athletic trainers, and other healthcare professionals dedicated to the management of upper extremity athletic injuries. Arms in Motion provides a deep dive into the latest evidence-based practices for diagnosing, treating, and rehabilitating complex shoulder and elbow conditions. By the end of this course, participants will be equipped with knowledge of anatomy of the shoulder and elbow and have skills to perform a comprehensive exam of the shoulder. They will gain practical skills and innovative strategies to enhance the performance and recovery of active individuals and competitive athletes.

Learning Objectives:
At the end of this course participants will be able to:
1. Differentiate between rotator cuff tears and tendinopathy to implement the most effective therapeutic interventions.
2. Understand the biomechanics of the "thrower’s elbow" to address mechanism-of-injury and prevent recurrent trauma.
3. Implement rehabilitation programs specifically tailored to shoulder dislocations, humerus fractures, and UCL injuries.
4. Identify surgical indications for common upper extremity fractures and ligamentous tears based on the latest orthopedic standards.
Speakers:
Drew Tobler, DO
Dr. Tobler is a Family Medicine physician who specializes in Sports Medicine. Dr. Tobler has helped cover sporting events, treated all types of people from ballerinas at Oregon Ballet Theater, collegiate athletes at Portland State and Lewis and Clark, to ultramarathoners. He is the current team physician at McDaniel High School. He enjoys utilizing ultrasound as a tool to help diagnose and treat musculoskeletal problems, lifestyle medicine, and preventive medicine. Originally from Colorado, Dr. Tobler is a outdoor lover and enjoys snowboarding both at the resort and in the backcountry, gravel biking, hiking and rock climbing.
Connor Hosner, MD
Dr. Hosner is a Primary Care Sports Medicine Physician who believes movement is the best medicine. His focus of care is on helping people stay active, healthy, and doing the things they love for as long as possible. He completed a sports medicine fellowship at Penn Highlands Health in Pennsylvania.
Jenni Ludtke, LAT, ATC
Jenni is the AT Supervisor for Providence Sports Medicine. Prior to this role, she spent four years as the head athletic trainer at PIL's Jefferson Middle College High School. Jenni has worked at a variety of levels in her 20+ year career, from Division I to Youth sports, with extensive experience in rugby, football, track, wrestling, and volleyball. She is an ImPACT Trained Athletic Trainer (ITAT), as well as a certified Advanced Movement Specialist and an Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) Practitioner. Jenni lives in Portland with her long-term partner and is the proud owner of the handsomest English Bulldog in the world. In her spare time, she enjoys attending Timbers games, weightlifting, reading, trivia, and checking out the cool differences between Oregon and California.
Maija Girardi, PT, DPT
Maija Girardi is a recent DPT graduate from Boston University and began her sports certified specialist residency at Providence last August. During her undergraduate studies, she was a student-athlete on the Track and Field team and gained hands-on experience working in the athletic training room. While pursuing her graduate degree, she also served as the head coach for the Boston University women's club basketball team and helped program strength and conditioning sessions for the injured DI athletes at the University. These diverse experiences have shaped her passion for working with athletes, driving her commitment to helping them recover from injuries and return to their sport stronger and more resilient than before.
Breanne Brown, D.O.
Breanne Brown is a Sports Medicine and Family Medicine physician for Providence. She has been providing care for high school, college and professional teams for the past 14 years in the Portland area including Portland Thorns, Portland Timbers, Portland Trailblazers and Remix. She likes to spend time with her husband and 2 daughters and spend time outdoors.
Kris Moore, MD
Kris Moore is an experienced fellowship trained orthopedic sports medicine surgeon with 16 years’ experience with shoulder and knee arthroscopic procedures. He has additional expertise with knee replacement and general orthopedic cases and is the head team physician for local college and high school teams.
Lori Lingle Elling, OT/L, CHT
Lori received her Occupational Therapy degree from the University of Puget Sound in 1988 and became a certified hand therapist in 2003. She has worked for three hospital systems in Oregon and a private hand therapy clinic in Portland. She has worked for Providence for the past 11 years and is currently working at Providence Reeds Crossing Outpatient and Sports Medicine Rehabilitation where she is the Hand and Upper Extremity Clinical Specialist. Lori worked as the Providence Clinical Program Lead for Oregon from 2019-24. During that time she organized five annual Hand & UE conferences. Lori has presented on hand and upper extremity assessment and treatment for a variety of diagnoses during her career. She frequently takes OT students for fieldwork level 2 as well as offering mentoring for OT’s wanting to advance their knowledge in hand therapy.
In her spare time Lori enjoys gardening, hiking, water and snow skiing and has recently taken up fishing.
Kekoa Turbeville, PT, DPT, SCS
Originally from Maui, Kekoa moved to Oregon to attend physical therapy school at Pacific University. He later became a board-certified specialist in sports physical therapy after completing a sports residency at Providence Sports Care Center. Now practicing at Reeds Crossing, he serves as both coordinator and mentor within the Providence Sports Residency, where he emphasizes the use of objective data to guide individuals of all activity levels through their recovery.
Thayer White, M.D.
Dr. Thayer White has been practicing Family Medicine and Sports Medicine at PMG Glisan since 2012. He currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer for the Portland Timbers and Assistant Team Physician for the Portland Trail Blazers.
Dominic Patillo, M.D.
Dr. Patillo graduated with honors from Harvard University in 2000 where he was captain of the men’s track and field team. He then attended Washington University in St. Louis where he obtained his medical degree. He completed an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Missouri followed by a hand and upper extremity fellowship at the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Patillo has been practicing in Portland, OR since 2010.
His practice focuses on the treatment of both simple and complex hand, wrist and elbow conditions as well as general orthopedic trauma. He has a special interest in complex wrist and elbow traumatic injury. He is experienced with modern microsurgical techniques including nerve and vessel reconstruction.
Originally from Salt Lake City, UT, Dr. Patillo divides his free time between his young family, coaching youth basketball and various outdoor activities including fishing, slalom skiing and snowboarding.

Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis for in-person seats. You may also register to attend live virtually. This course will be recorded and available to watch on demand for continuing education credit.
Registration Fee: The registration fee for in-person attendees is $275 for Non-Providence employees and $175 for Providence employees. The registration fee for virtual attendees is $250 for Non-Providence employees and $150 for Providence employees.
A $25 early bird discount is available to participants who register by April 11, 2026. Registration fees cover snacks(in-person), an electronic course handout and electronic certificate of attendance.
Students may register to attend in-person for $75 and virtually for $60, early bird discounts do not apply for student registration.
Refund Policy: Full refunds less a $50 administrative fee will be granted if cancellation is requested by April 18, 2026. No refunds will be made after that date unless the course is cancelled by Providence, in which case full refunds will be issued.
Contact Hours: This course qualifies for 7.5 contact hours for Athletic Trainers, Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants, Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy Assistants in Oregon and Washington. Continuing education credit in additional states may be available. Please email rehabcourses@providence.org to determine if continuing educations credits can be submitted for your state. Certificates of attendance will be issued to all participants completing the CEU requirements.
