After nearly 50 years of serving the racing community in Baja with the BFGoodrich Pit Support Program, the decision has been made to discontinue the service.
To teams that used pit support: We know this change might be tough to process. The decision wasn’t an easy one to make.
Five decades ago, reliable pit support was hard to come by, and BFGoodrich capably filled that void for race teams of all sizes and classes. Today, most teams have their own pit support, tailored to their drivers’ exact needs. With that, participation in the BFGoodrich Pit Support Program has steadily dwindled.
We are evolving with the times but not going away. Motorsports always has been and always will be in BFGoodrich’s DNA. We remain committed to racers and the off-road community, and BFGoodrich’s presence will still be felt in Baja. We will continue to offer:
- Interim support: To ease this transition, we will work with SCORE to help race teams that have consistently used the BFG Full Service Pit Support Program and rely on outside pit support to continue racing. BFGoodrich will offer $1 per race mile to teams that sign up with an official SCORE pit provider.
- World-class product development: BFGoodrich’s off-road racing tires are made with pride in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and will continue to offer the highest level of performance.
- On-site logistics: BFGoodrich will still be involved with course mapping and providing the intel necessary for our race teams to navigate the peninsula. We will also continue with our presence at SCORE contingency and the start/finish line.
Thank you to all the race teams who have supported and used this legendary program.
A very special “thank you” to the pit crew members and volunteers over the years for your invaluable contributions to the BFGoodrich Pit Support Program and to Baja racing. You will forever be a part of this legacy of greatness.
