Why You Should Have Attended
The Global SME Finance Forum is the world’s highest-level, most technically in-depth, most geographically diverse event focused solely on SME financing. Since 2015, its forward-thinking agenda, tackling topics such as sustainable finance and fintech partnership, has attracted C-level industry leaders, leading policymakers, and regulators from around the world.
This year’s meeting focused on building digital ecosystems to win the SME market. SME financing is moving to beyond-banking ecosystems addressing target customers’ fundamental needs in a single, easy-to-use service. Their offerings include traditional banking products and many other business services, such as invoice management, payroll support, tax preparation, and inventory management.
The meeting highlighted India’s achievements in this area while also bringing in a wide range of other examples of successful ecosystem building from around the world. The attendees learned how to participate, orchestrate or build a digital ecosystem platform.
The participants also explored the ways to tackle SME ESG issues and through digital ecosystems. Other cross-cutting themes were integrated into the 3-day event, including supply chain financing, financial inclusion of women entrepreneurs and migrant/displaced entrepreneurs, risk management, agrifinance and digital transformation.
The agenda also includes study visits to local SME Finance innovators, fintech pitches, communities of practice sessions, and many networking opportunities.
More than 650 senior executives from SME Finance institutions worldwide joined the event on-site.
The Global SME Finance Forum is the flagship annual event of the SME Finance Forum, a network of over 250 leading banks, NBFIs, fintechs and development banks, created by the G20 in 2012 and managed by the International Finance Corporation.
This year’s event was co-hosted by our member SIDBI and the Indian Banks' Association.
