PaediPrep is a workshop that equips nurses with the confidence, skills, and clinical reasoning needed to safely care for paediatric patients.
Through a blended, simulation-based approach, participants build foundational paediatric knowledge, practise skills, and apply learning to realistic clinical scenarios—bridging the gap between adult-focused practise and paediatric care. Learners leave better prepared to recognize clinical deterioration, manage pain and respiratory distress, communicate effectively with families, and provide developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed care in their own clinical settings.

Course Overview

PaediPrep is a blended, simulation-based continuing education course designed to support community hospital nurses in developing foundational paediatric nursing knowledge, skills, and confidence.

The course focuses on paediatric health assessment, respiratory support, and pain recognition and management, with an emphasis on developmentally appropriate, family-centred, and trauma-informed care. Through a combination of asynchronous pre-learning and immersive in-person simulation, participants apply paediatric concepts to realistic clinical scenarios commonly encountered in community settings.

The course aligns with the Canadian Paediatric Nursing Standards to ensure educational quality, clinical relevance, and evidence-informed simulation-based teaching and learning.
