Join us in Anchorage for five days of technical training, professional development, networking and important conversations about Alaska’s environment, communities, resources and future.
The Alaska Forum brings together professionals, organizations and communities from across the state to exchange knowledge, develop partnerships and engage with the issues affecting Alaska today.
AF2027 will take place fully in person at the Dena’ina Center, providing opportunities to connect directly with speakers, exhibitors, colleagues, community leaders and professionals from throughout Alaska.
Please note that virtual registration and recorded session access will not be available for the 2027 conference. However, Alaska Forum Virtual Technical Sessions will continue throughout the year, providing additional opportunities to learn, stay current and remain connected before and after the annual conference.
What is the Alaska Forum?
The Alaska Forum is Alaska’s largest gathering for environmental training, professional development and technical information, while also bringing together people from many different sectors to address issues that intersect with Alaska’s environment, communities and economy.
Environmental professionals and the work they do remain at the heart of the Forum.
For nearly three decades, the Alaska Forum has brought together Tribal environmental professionals, environmental program staff, regulators, scientists, engineers, consultants, contractors, community leaders and others for technical training and professional discussions addressing Alaska’s environmental priorities.
That work continues.
AF2027 will provide substantial programming in areas such as contaminated sites and brownfields, water and wastewater, PFAS and emerging contaminants, solid and hazardous waste, environmental compliance, changing environmental conditions, emergency and spill response, environmental health, Tribal environmental programs and other issues important to Alaska’s environmental workforce.
Building on Our Environmental Foundation
Many of the most important issues facing Alaska increasingly intersect with environmental work.
Energy development affects air, water, infrastructure and communities. Resource development involves permitting, environmental protection, economic opportunity, fisheries and subsistence. Public health is connected to water, sanitation, occupational conditions and healthy communities. Emergency preparedness involves infrastructure, hazardous materials, environmental response and community resilience.
The Alaska Forum is building on its environmental foundation to bring more of these conversations together in one place.
AF2027 will expand opportunities for government, industry, Alaska Native corporations, Tribal organizations, nonprofits, researchers, businesses and communities to share expertise and constructively examine important and sometimes difficult issues affecting Alaska.
The result is a Forum that continues to serve Alaska’s environmental professionals while creating new opportunities to learn from—and connect with—the many people and organizations whose work intersects with theirs.

New and Expanded Programming for 2027
Health & Healthy Alaska Communities
AF2027 will expand its focus on the significant health issues affecting Alaskans and the connections among health, environment, occupation, infrastructure and community conditions.
Programming will bring together health professionals and other experts to examine the challenges affecting Alaska communities and practical approaches to improving health and resilience.
Grants: From Opportunity Through Audit
For organizations that depend upon grants to accomplish their work, AF2027 is developing a coordinated professional-development series addressing the complete grant cycle:
Finding Opportunities → Proposal Development → Budgeting → Award Administration → Procurement & Contracting → Financial Tracking → Indirect Costs → Compliance → Reporting → Closeout → Audit Preparation
The goal is practical training for grant writers, program managers, financial staff, Tribal organizations, nonprofits, communities and others responsible for successfully managing grant-funded programs.
Important Conversations About Alaska’s Future
The Alaska Forum is also developing a focused group of sessions examining significant and emerging issues affecting Alaska.
Potential subjects include Alaska’s energy future, resource development, critical minerals, AI and data centers, advanced nuclear energy, fisheries and salmon, wildlife and subsistence, Arctic security, emergency preparedness, rural infrastructure and other major issues where environmental, community and economic interests intersect.
For complex issues, the Forum will seek knowledgeable participants representing multiple informed perspectives, creating opportunities for constructive and nonpartisan discussion rather than advocacy for a single position.
