Complimentary One-on-One Appointments
with a Porphyria Expert

Registered Porphyria Palooza attendees may request one of a limited number of complimentary, 20-minute appointments with porphyria experts Dr. Bruce Wang and Dr. Amy Dickey Yeung.

Two types of appointments will be available:

  • Individual Porphyria Consultation with Dr. Bruce Wang 
    Meet with Dr. Wang for an in-depth conversation about your specific porphyria questions, health history and care considerations.
  • Porphyria Education Appointment with Dr. Amy Dickey Yeung
    Meet individually with Dr. Yeung to ask questions and learn more about porphyria. These are educational conversations focused on general porphyria information. Dr. Yeung cannot review your individual medical situation or provide personalized care recommendations.

Appointments are limited and must be requested in advance.

Please note these appointments do not establish an ongoing physician-patient relationship. Neither expert can order testing or write prescriptions during Palooza. Dr. Yeung’s appointments are limited to general porphyria education and cannot include individualized medical advice or care recommendations.

About the Porphyria Experts

Bruce Wang, MD is a porphyria expert and a liver specialist. He runs the UCSF Porphyria Center in San Francisco, is a member of the UPA Scientific Advisory Board and Vice-President of the American Porphyria Expert Collaborative (APEX).

He is well-known in the porphyria patient community for answering porphyria patients' questions in regular UPA live streams.

Amy (Dickey) Yeung, MD is a porphyria expert at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), where she co-directs the MGH Porphyria Clinic. She is a member of the UPA Scientific Advisory Board and the American Porphyria Expert Collaborative (APEX).

Dr. Yeung also brings a personal perspective to her work. She was diagnosed with porphyria (EPP) at age 13.

Additional Travel and Accommodation Assistance for One-on-One Meetings

Patients who receive an appointment with Dr. Bruce Wang may be eligible for reimbursement of certain travel and accommodation expenses through The Assistance Fund’s Porphyria Program.

Reimbursement is determined solely by The Assistance Fund (TAF). An appointment does not guarantee TAF enrollment, eligibility or reimbursement. Patients should confirm their eligibility and covered expenses directly with TAF before making travel arrangements.
