In this course, you'll explore research-based strategies to plan engaging and interactive read alouds that expand students’ vocabulary, comprehension, and empathy. You'll explore techniques for before, during, and after reading, including "think alouds" and "text talk" questions. Discover how to intentionally select diverse texts that act as both "windows" into new perspectives and "mirrors" reflecting students' own experiences. Analyze and apply research-based components of effective read alouds to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
