About the Symposium
Establishing the Next Generation of Alternative Investment Firms Symposium (NextGen) is NAIC’s industry-leading series of premier virtual training sessions that equips emerging general partners with the knowledge, strategies, and relationships needed to build enduring investment firms. Through a dynamic series of sessions led by industry experts and institutional investors, participants gain a 360° view of the firm-building journey—from launch to long-term sustainability.
Over 9 weeks, NextGen programming explores how to establish strong governance and culture, assemble high-performing teams, and develop credible track records. Participants learn to craft compelling fundraising narratives, structure firm and fund economics, manage risk, and build operational and legal infrastructure that meets institutional standards.
Program Details
The NextGen Symposium features a hybrid learning experience designed for maximum accessibility and impact:
- February 19, 2026-April 29, 2026
- The NextGen Symposium meets weekly during this period, with no session the week of March 30 in observance of Good Friday.
- Thursdays, 4:00-6:00pm ET
- 9 virtual sessions
- 1 in-person capstone event featuring pitch coaching with former LPs (available as an add-on)
Program Format
9 Virtual Sessions
Hosted in the NextGen Symposium Attendee Hub, these live and on-demand sessions provide comprehensive training on firm formation, fundraising, operations, risk, legal considerations, and asset-class strategy.
Note: Session 9 content is delivered in-person during the NYC capstone event. Virtual participants may join remotely, and the session will also be available on demand afterward.
1 In-Person Capstone Event (NYC)
An optional, add-on experience featuring exclusive pitch-coaching with former LPs and an intimate networking reception with NAIC members, allocators, and key service providers. The capstone includes the in-person delivery of Session 9’s virtual curriculum.
