Course Overview

Course Description

"Transitioning into Supervision" is an interactive course designed for individuals transitioning to a supervisory role or interested in a career path in supervision. The course works to shift participants' focus from being an employee to entering the world of management as a supervisor.

Assumption of a supervisory role begins the learning process enabling you to foster change and promote growth of team members while achieving or exceeding productivity expectations. During the program, participants are oriented to the establishment of goals, learning skills to shift their thought processes to that of leadership, enforcing accountabilities, and strategically thinking.  Woven through this program is the recognition that change and moving out of your comfort zone is to be expected as you evolve as a leader.  

Key topics upon which we will focus include leadership basics e.g. effective communication and listening, team building, time management, continuous improvement, problem resolution, etc. By the end of the session you will have an initial draft of a developmental plan for leadership skill enhancements and a variety of resources.

Intended Audience

The targeted audience for this course includes entry level supervisors / team leaders, etc. or anyone who is transitioning from team member to supervisor.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will be able to : 

  • Identify the inherent strengths and areas for enhancement of their your behavioral styles
  • Adapt your communication to be an effective leader
  • Understand your responsibility to coach and mentor team members for enhanced performance and career opportunities.

Instructor

Sallie Voyles, president of Training For Success, Inc., is an experienced educator, consultant, human resources professional, corporate trainer and career coach. Her professional experience includes eleven years of teaching, twelve years of human resources, and 34 years of corporate training.

Her time spent in the educational arena, coupled with the human resources, provides a unique perspective when developing corporate training programs. She recognizes the requisite skills and can focus on enhancement/development.

Philosophically Sallie believes it is critical that the content and presentation reflect a manner which is credible and applicable to the audience.

Waitlist
What happens if I am on a waitlist for a course? You will receive an email confirming you have been added to a waitlist. If a spot becomes available, you will be notified by email.
 

 

CEU and CPE Policy
Attendance in this course can earn:

  • 0.6 Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
  • 7.2 Continuing Professional Education Units (CPEs)

Attendance is recorded at check-in at the start of the day, and full CEU or CPE credit is awarded based on an honor system, with the expectation that participants are present and actively engaged for the full MAPS course.

 

Course Certificate
Your course certificate will be emailed to you following the course. It will reflect your Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Continuing Professional Education Units (CPEs) earned and your attendance of the course. 

 

Photography
The Ohio State University may occasionally take pictures during educational events for use in program communication. If you do not want to be photographed during this course, please email the MAPS team at

MAPS Membership 
A MAPS member receives a discounted rate of $250 for each course with the initial purchase of at least 12 credits. Each credit equals one course for one individual.
