This interactive session focuses on strengthening communication and collaboration among nurses, physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals involved in the care of medical-surgical patients.
Participants will examine communication strategies that promote effective teamwork, improve care coordination, reduce errors, and enhance patient and family outcomes. Through a case scenario, shared experiences, and evidence-based practices, attendees will identify barriers to communication and develop approaches to foster a culture of mutual respect, accountability, and advocacy across disciplines. Emphasis will be placed on structured communication tools, interdisciplinary rounding, handoff processes, and team-based decision-making to support high-quality, patient-centered care.

The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses is accredited as an approver of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
