Canada's consumer credit market continued to expand in Q2 2026, driven by rising balances and steady lender confidence. Growth, however, was concentrated among the highest- and lowest-risk borrowers, highlighting an increasingly polarized credit landscape. The mortgage market held firm, supported by strong payment performance and growing balances. At the same time, slower originations, smaller new mortgages and modest increases in delinquency pointed to a gradual normalization of credit risk. Overall consumer credit performance remained stable, but signs of financial stress became more concentrated. Rising delinquencies, insolvencies and affordability pressures reflected challenges in specific borrower segments and provinces rather than broad-based deterioration. Join our live review of the Q2 2026 TransUnion® Canada Credit Industry Insights Report as we explore the latest consumer credit trends and factors shaping Canada's evolving credit market.
