Continuing Education Unit (CEU) Certificate

The AP® Reading is a learning event. The outcomes expected are as follows:

  • Recognize criteria to meet each score point contained within the rubric
  • Identify the correct score point to be applied based on prescribed criteria
  • Apply the scoring rubric consistently and accurately to a wide range of constructed responses

All Readers and Leaders who participate in the 2026 AP Reading will receive Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credits based on number of hours worked during the Pre-Reading Preparation, Pre-Reading and Reading. You must also demonstrate consistent and accurate application of a standardized scoring rubric. You will receive a personalized Certificate of Recognition by email in early July.

For every 10 hours worked, Readers and Leaders will receive 1 CEU. The maximum number of CEUs a Reader or Leader can receive is 16. CEUs will not be issued for any time worked under 10 hours.

NOTE: Chief Readers, Chief Reader Designates, and Assistants to the Chief Reader are not eligible to receive CEU certificates.

The AP Program recognizes that your participation in the AP Reading is a learning experience that will benefit you and your students well after the Reading has ended. Your Certificate of Recognition will include the number of professional development hours and CEUs you earned at this year’s Reading. You are encouraged to present your certificate to your administration to receive recognition and/or credit to satisfy any professional development requirements mandated by your state, district, or school. ETS will not share your CEU credit information with any other party.

CEUs awarded for previous Readings can be obtained by contacting the AP Reading Office at ReadAP@ets.org or 1-888-9-AP-READ (1-888-927-7323), Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. ET. Records are available for the previous seven Reading events.

ETS is accredited by the International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) and offers IACET CEUs for its learning events that comply with the ANSI/IACET Standard for Continuing Education and Training. IACET is recognized internationally as a standard development organization and accrediting body that promotes quality of continuing education and training.
