Join OSU’s Kayla Perry at Secrest Arboretum for a lunch-and-learn on non-native earthworms. Earthworms are considered ecosystem engineers because they modify their environment in ways that affect other organisms and ecosystem function. Invasion of European and Asian earthworms in the Great Lakes region has impacted previously earthworm-free ecosystems. The workshop will discuss the ecology of these earthworms, their impacts on plants and soil, and methods for sampling and identification.
