Description
Pediatric spinal cord injury (SCI) care requires highly coordinated, interdisciplinary expertise that spans the continuum from acute injury management through inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient care, and community reintegration. This educational symposium will bring together pediatric rehabilitation professionals dedicated to advancing SCI care through evidence‑based practice, innovation, and collaboration.
Participants will explore current standards of care, emerging rehabilitation approaches, and interdisciplinary strategies that support functional recovery, medical stability, psychosocial well‑being, and family‑centered decision‑making. Content will address the unique developmental, medical, and psychosocial considerations of children and adolescents with SCI, with an emphasis on lifelong impact, ethical considerations, care transitions, and long‑term outcomes.
This event marks the inaugural Pediatric Rehabilitation Symposium hosted by Children’s, launching an annual educational series focused on advancing specialized pediatric rehabilitation care. The 2026 symposium will spotlight spinal cord injury rehabilitation as the foundational topic, with future symposia planned to expand into additional pediatric rehabilitation specialty areas.
