ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
The Come to the Table Conference is hosted by the Come to the Table Program of the Rural Advancement Foundation International (RAFI). Under the leadership direction of Executive Director Edna Rodriguez, RAFI challenges the root causes of unjust food systems, supporting and advocating for economically, racially, and ecologically just farm communities. The mission of the Come to the Table program is to empower faith communities to participate in the creation of a just food system through collaboration, capacity building, and advocacy.
Since 2007, Come to the Table has been holding biennial conferences to convene persons of faith, farmers, and community leaders to come together around issues of food access in their communities. Previous conference themes have included Spirit, Power, and Connection: Owning Our Food Future (2021), Called to Action: Uprooting Hunger and Cultivating Justice (2019), Bridging Divides: Cultivating Food & Faith Connections (2017), and Head, Heart, Hands (2015).
The theme for the 2024 conference is "Food, Land & Sacred Stories," which will explore these pieces as individual concepts and as a continual thread through the lens of race and equity. With a special emphasis on lived stories, the conference will incorporate storytelling and story-making in several different mediums, featuring workshops, panels, farm tours, keynotes, networking events, and more.
