How would YOU like to see the 2026 Total Eclipse in Spain?!

Seeing a total eclipse is the ultimate bucket list item, but where better to see your first (or second, third, fourth...) than in Spain? On Wednesday, August 12, 2026, a total eclipse will cross over Northern Spain, and we invite you to join popular eclipse trip leader Dr. Douglas Duncan on another total solar eclipse trip in the very interesting city of Zaragoza. On this trip, you'll get a taste of Spain and experience an awe-worthy total eclipse. Not only that, but Dr. Duncan's trips are known for having the most interesting and friendliest speakers.

Ready to join? Register through the 'Register Now' link at the top and bottom of each page. Dr. Duncan’s trips are very popular and usually sell out a year before the eclipse. If you are interested, we encourage you to register early!

Trip dates: August 10 - 13, 2026

More About This Trip: Total Solar Eclipse with a Taste of Spain

This will be an unusual eclipse. With the sun low in the sky, we expect to see the awesome cone-shaped shadow of the eclipse stretching across the sky. The eclipse will happen about half an hour before sunset - eerie and memorable!

Zaragoza was chosen because it has the best weather prospects of any site for the August 12, 2026 total eclipse. Also, it has many sites to see, including a Roman amphitheater, a Muslim palace, and one of the earliest and largest Catholic churches, dedicated to the Virgin Mary.

We will stay at the NH Collection Gran Hotel de Zaragoza at the edge of the old city, which we will tour with local guides. One mid-day will be devoted to exploring and tasting the many outstanding tapas restaurants of the neighborhood. We also will visit the 11th century Islamic AljaferĂa Palace.

The trip will start and end in Madrid, Spain. Participants will arrive at the Madrid airport on August 10 by their own means. Many will choose to stay after the eclipse trip and do more exploring of Spain. We have partnered with Liberty International to offer various tours for before and after the eclipse programming. Please visit the Pre/Post Trips page to read more about the tour options. Note that registration for these tours will not open until later in 2025.

After arriving at the Madrid airport, you will be shuttled to the Madrid Marriott Auditorium Hotel & Conference Center for a welcome dinner and orientation talks. The morning of August 11, we will take the 180-mph high-speed train to Zaragoza, a speedy one hour and 15-minute train ride! August 12 is eclipse day. The day after the eclipse, August 13, we return to Madrid on the high-speed train.

Dr. Duncan spent years doing commentary on National Public Radio, the History Channel, and BBC, and he knows some of the most interesting and compelling speakers, who he invites on eclipse trips. All are friendly and mingle with our group. You may read about them on the Speakers page.
