OVERVIEW

Please join us for a self-paced course that aims to address stroke, which is the leading cause of disability and the fifth leading cause of death in the United States. The healthcare industry is constantly evolving in terms of treatment options and stroke care. Nurses who are trained to care for stroke patients have ample experience and knowledge to obtain the AANN Stroke Nurse Certification.

This self-paced learning course for nurses will be accessible for 30 days starting August 3, 2026.

PLEASE NOTE

The Stroke Certification Review Course provides educational preparation only. Exam registration and testing are administered separately and are not required for course completion. Learners are responsible for determining whether and when to register for the exam.

LEARNING OUTCOME(S)

At the end of the program, 80% of the attendees will be able to discuss the acute care needs of the stroke patient by stating the etiology, best practices, and interventions for patients suffering from stroke and stroke syndromes during class discussion.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  1. Review the anatomy, physiology, and etiology related to stroke syndromes.
  2. Identify the interventions available during the hyper-acute phase of caring for a stroke patient.
  3. Discuss the acute care needs of the stroke patient.
  4. Describe the importance of post-acute care for the stroke patient.
  5. State the importance of primary and secondary preventative care for stroke.

CONTINUING EDUCATION PROVIDER STATEMENT

NewYork-Presbyterian is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. 

Participants will be awarded 4.5 contact hours towards completion of the course.

This course requires participants' full program attendance and completion of required course documents. The Planning Committee, presenters, faculty, authors, and content reviewers have no conflicts of interest to disclose. Disclosure forms are required and have been reviewed for any issues. Speakers are required to present balanced and unbiased presentations. The presentation content has been reviewed, and any bias has been eliminated.
