9:40–10:05 a.m. — FAA Part 107 Introduction

  • Requirements for operating drones commercially
  • Airspace, weather, safety, and preflight planning
  • Basic operating limitations and pilot responsibilities

10:05–10:30 a.m. — Mission Planning

  • Planning photogrammetry and LiDAR missions
  • Altitude, speed, overlap, ground sample distance, and coverage
  • Preparing missions for the Autel and Carlson CRD1

10:30–11:00 a.m. — Ground Control Point Collection

  • Selecting and placing ground control points and checkpoints
  • Collecting accurate GCP coordinates with the Carlson Viking GNSS receiver and Washington data collector
  • Reviewing coordinate systems, point descriptions, and field procedures
  • Preparing GCP data for use in photogrammetry processing and accuracy verification

11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. — Live Flight Demonstrations

  • Autel photogrammetry mission
  • CRD1 photogrammetry and LiDAR mission
  • Preflight procedures, mission execution, and field data management

12:00–12:30 p.m. — Lunch

  • Importing and organizing imagery
  • Importing the collected GCP coordinates
  • Processing the Autel and CRD1 data in Carlson Photo Capture
  • Reviewing orthomosaics, point clouds, surfaces, and accuracy results

1:05–1:40 p.m. — LiDAR Processing

  • Importing and reviewing CRD1 LiDAR data
  • Working with the point cloud in Carlson Point Cloud Advanced
  • Classification, surface creation, cleanup, and data extraction
  • Using the collected control points to verify the LiDAR data

1:40–2:00 p.m. — Questions and Wrap-Up

  • Review of the complete field-to-finish workflow
  • Equipment and software questions
  • Next steps for starting or expanding a drone program
