OVERVIEW
Rheem MasterClass
This comprehensive training is designed for HVAC service and installation technicians who want to improve their knowledge of modern air conditioning and heat pump systems. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of system operation, airflow fundamentals, refrigerant behavior, equipment selection, startup procedures, charging techniques, thermostat configuration, and advanced troubleshooting methods.
The course covers Rheem A2L (R-454B) equipment, inverter technology, heat pumps, air handlers, furnaces, and communicating controls while reinforcing industry best practices that help prevent installation errors and reduce callbacks. Technicians will learn how to properly verify airflow, perform commissioning procedures, calculate and verify refrigerant charge, configure thermostats and Bluetooth-enabled controls, interpret fault codes, and diagnose common mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related system issues.
By the end of this training, technicians will be able to confidently install, commission, troubleshoot, and service modern HVAC systems while improving system performance, reliability, customer satisfaction, and first-time fix rates.
Learning Objectives
Participants will learn how to:
Identify and understand Rheem heat pump, air conditioning, air handler, coil, and furnace product families. Explain refrigeration cycle fundamentals and heat pump operation in both cooling and heating modes.
- Apply best practices for equipment sizing, airflow, ductwork, refrigerant piping, electrical wiring, and condensate management.
- Perform proper evacuation, leak testing, startup, commissioning, and R-454B charging procedures.
- Verify airflow using static pressure, temperature rise, and other industry-approved methods.
- Configure thermostats, EcoNet controls, and the Rheem Contractor App.
- Diagnose common HVAC system faults including airflow issues, charging problems, electrical failures, compressor issues, fan motor failures, sensors, reversing valves, EXVs, and defrost controls.
- Reduce callbacks by identifying and avoiding the most common installation and commissioning mistakes.
