About Us
Gamer's Universe
Gamer's Universe, an all-ages, intergenerational, free, safe and inclusive gaming convention hosted every June at Harold Washington Library Center. 2026 will mark our 5th year hosting Gamer's Universe. The convention features activities and experiences designed by the Chicago Teen Gamer's Guild including tournaments, artist alley, exhibitor hall, free play video and tabletop games, and original games designed by teens.

Chicago Teen Gamer's Guild
The Chicago Teen Gamer's Guild (CTGG) is a 6-month paid assisstanship for high school-aged teens that empowers young people to develop gaming events across multiple genres of play and experience, culminating in hosting Gamer's Universe. For a second year, we are excited to partner with After School Matters, which supports the program's stipends, allowing us to reach new neighborhoods and provide more opportunities for game-loving Chicago high school students.
It takes a team
Gamer's Universe is made possible with the support of adults both within and outside of Chicago Public Library. CPL Staff lead sub-guild groups; volunteers work on the day of the convention and spread the word about Gamer's Universe to our communities and the patrons we serve at CPL. Activating the Harold Washington Library Center is an enormous task, and CBRE, Corporate & Private Events, and every department at the library play a significant role in making the day a success.

We are grateful for our 5th year of partnership with I Play Games! Their support and deep connections within the Chicago gaming community help spread the word about our work and are a thought partner throughout the Gamer's Universe process. They not only provide equipment and technical support but most importantly mentorship and access to opportunities professional opportunities for our youth like working at events outside the library like the Extra Life Chicago Gaming Convention and C2E2.
Support
Gamer's Universe is made possible with support from BMO, Allstate, Peoples Gas, Exelon and other generous donations to the Chicago Public Library Foundation.
