CONFERENCE BASICS
WHAT IS THE CONFERENCE?
Our Conference is a week-long educational event. This year it will include classes, meetings, TalkAPP sessions, workshops, panels, the Exposition, and ATTBs (Alternative to the bar social events). We will have two main social events: the Opening Party and Closing Party. We will also have a closing award ceremony.
CLASSES: Are taught on a variety of topics - some classes (core subjects) are taught every year; some classes (electives) vary from year to year. They may be repeated or may not be in future years. Classes are taught by experienced piercers or professionals from specific industries. They are typically taught in a traditional lecture format, with one or two instructors.
WORKSHOPS: These sessions will rely heavily on demonstration or hands-on participation from attendees. They are smaller sessions (numbers of attendees) to facilitate learning.
PANELS: Are done on a variety of topics. Usually include 3 or more participant presenters. Is an opportunity for attendees to hear from multiple voices in our industry on the same topic.
TALKAPP sessions: These sessions are modeled on the TedTalk concept.Led by a host, three 20 minute presentations are done by 3 presenters under an umbrella topic. No questions/answers are available in these sessions.
MEETINGS: The APP has traditionally held meetings for specialized groups as a way to foster networking and encourage collaboration and teamwork on shared challenges and successes.
EXPOSITION/EXPO: This is where vendors of jewelry and other piercing related services and products have booths displaying their items for sale. The Expo is open Tuesday-Friday, with Friday being a partial day. The fee to enter is included in a Full Conference Pass but must be purchased separately for 2 & 5 class passes. Expo Only passes are available at a premium.
OPENING PARTY: The opening celebration returns to the ALL NEW Flamingo Go pool! Snacks are available to early entry ticket holders. Late entry tickets are available at a reduced price for those who want to attend later and skip the food. Bars accept credit cards only. Cabanas are available for rent. No outside food or drinks allowed. No one will be allowed in without a ticket.
ATTB (Alternatives to the Bar): These extra curricular activities are a great alternative to traditional Vegas activities and are free of charge to all attendees of the Conference. These are alcohol-free options and we ask that all attending refrain from drinking or bringing alcohol to these events.
APP AWARDS AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS: Now a stand alone event, this formal acknowledgement of award recipients is open to all participants of the Conference. This event will precede the Closing Party at another location. No ticket is required.
CLOSING PARTY: This is our closing celebration of the Conference. Food is no longer part of this event. Click on the link for more details!
