Featured Guest

Born in Almansa, Spain, Sonia Megías (STEINHARDT MM ’12) is a composer, singer, and multidisciplinary artist whose projects aim at social transformation through playfulness and ritual. She creates expanded musical notations, which she terms "rare scores"—proposals integrating video, choreography, or fine arts, such as tactile, graphic, or edible scores. She presents these works in exhibitions called Mono+Graphics.
Megías earned her master’s degree in music composition from New York University (2010–2012). Her public recognitions include the Sonia Megías Classroom in Alicante (2018), the Sonia Megías Library in Granada (2022), serving as Ambassador of the Festival ‘Una mirada diferente’ (2018), and being Resident Composer of the Choral Federation of Madrid (2017–2020). Additionally, the National Museum Thyssen-Bornemisza and AECID have published books and documentaries about her work, and she has received numerous commissions from the Ministry of Culture of Spain.
In 2011, she founded the publishing house EdicionesDelantal and the experimental laboratory CoroDelantal, currently based in Madrid and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Alicante (MACA). Now living in Santa Pola, Megías writes the fanzine LaVidaenMúsica and tours worldwide with her band, Dúa de Pel.
