Participatory Sessions
JASNA members are passionate about engaging with Jane Austen's work, understanding her world, and incorporating their knowledge into studious and creative projects. Because every JASNA member has something interesting to say, the 2026 AGM offers new ways for members to share what is on their minds and in their hearts.

Janeite Arts and Crafts Show and Tell

Jane Austen quilted, embroidered, and did paper crafts. Her novels mention many additional creative pastimes, including painting and drawing, netting purses, quilling, and more. Whether you practice a classic art or craft, or one Austen wouldn’t recognize (origami, digital die cutting, or book transformation, anyone?), we want to see your Janeite creations! You can sign up to talk about your project from the stage or share it informally from a display table.

Open Mic Night

What’s your take on Austen? Open Mic is your chance to have your say, on whatever Austen-related topic and in whatever mode of expression you choose. Give a lightning lecture, sing a song, share your favorite Austen passage, do a dramatic monologue—it’s up to you. There are only two rules: 1. You have 4 minutes only. 2. No staging, setup, fancy AV, or slides: it’s just you and a microphone on stage. This will be a fast-paced and fun session for participants and spectators alike.
