Co-Teaching PD Event Description: Teachers are invited to participate in an optional summer book study and PD session designed to build shared understanding and practical strategies for co-teaching. Participants will read from multiple co-teaching texts connected to special education, multilingual learners, dual language, and collaborative planning. The study is intended to honor participants’ varied experiences while supporting a common foundation for effective co-teaching partnerships, intentional co-planning, and inclusive instruction. Teachers may earn up to 6 clock hours.
Objectives:
- Develop a shared understanding of effective co-teaching models and how they can be used to support student engagement, access, and growth.
- Explore strategies for collaborative planning that make instruction more intentional, efficient, and responsive to student needs.

Content standards for continuing education credit hours that apply to this PD are highlighted below.
The content and objectives of in-service continuing education credit hours must relate to one or more of the following:
- Opportunities for participants to collect and analyze evidence related to student learning;
- Professional certificate standards;
- Paraeducator standards of practice as described in Title 179 WAC;
- School and district improvement efforts;
- Education frameworks and curriculum alignment;
- Research-based instructional strategies and assessment practices
- Content of current or anticipated assignment;
- Advocacy for students and leadership;
- Supervision, mentoring, or coaching; or
- Building a collaborative learning community.
