Summary
Offshore wind sector is making rapid progress in the US. The federal government recently announced a national goal to deploy 30 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030. To help jumpstart the sector, the DOE’s Loan Programs Office will facilitate access to up to $3 billion in funding for OSW project and transmission developers, suppliers and other financing partners. Against this background, offshore wind integration and transmission needs have taken a center stage as the planned projects become larger and complex.
To continue the discussion on building a robust transmission infrastructure for the planned OSW capacity, Global Transmission Report is coming back to New York with the 5th edition of its Offshore Wind Transmission US conference on September 21-22, 2021.
The mission of the conference is to highlight the opportunities in the US offshore wind sector and discuss technologies and solutions for the development of the related transmission infrastructure.
The conference will present the latest plans and procurement programs for offshore wind in key US states. It will highlight the current developments and discuss the challenges in achieving the targets. It will showcase technology options, optimal network configurations, and advances in offshore cables and substations for upcoming projects. It will also bring forth solutions to address regulatory challenges, logistical barriers, and supply chain gaps in building and managing this infrastructure.
